Windwillow Basketry was established in 1985 at Coopers Creek, Oxford, North Canterbury.
It is now located at Kakanui, south of Oamaru in North Otago.
The workshop and showroom is surrounded by traditional potager gardens which feature live willow fences and sculptures.
Basketmaker, Mike Lilian, makes all types of willow baskets using traditional tools and techniques. He specialises in made-to-measure basketry.
The willows are grown on site and harvested annually. Unusual varieties are sourced from France and England.
Kitchen drawers, laundry baskets and willow coffins are a speciality.
Live willow fences of various designs can be woven on-site in winter.
